From August 18 to 24, the Starpwn CTF took place during DEFCON 34. This challenge is an Aerospace Village project led by a set of volunteers. The challenge was notably developed by VisionSpace, with the support of The Aerospace Corporation, EthosLab, Final Frontier Security, CTFd, SIXGEN, and Cal Poly.

🧩 31 challenges had to be solved in GlitterCity, covering 8 different areas of expertise:
📡 Communications & RF
🔎 Forensics
🛰️ Ground Operations
🎯 Manhunt
🧩 Miscellaneous
🔧 Physical
📡 Space Communications & RF
🚀 Space Operations

27 challenges could be completed remotely, while 4 were onsite-only. More than 1,000 different teams from all over the world connected for this challenge. 🌍

From investigating spacecraft packets in PCAP format, demodulating FSK signals, spoofing a GPS signal, calculating a Hohmann transfer, or crafting a malicious golden image after gaining access to a ground station, the CTF covered a wide range of space infrastructure and cybersecurity topics.
Reading Aurebesh (the Star Wars alphabet) or having in mind The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy was obviously a must. 😊
👏 Congratulations to VisionSpace and all organizers for making such incredible event!
🚀 CyberInflight is already planning to participate with a bigger team next year.
A big thanks to Bacquet Pierre, Lucas Cécillon, and Lucas for your participation! 🙌
